(Ohio) - Has your township had issues with rail corridors and blocked crossings?

The following information is courtesy of the legislative notifications from the Ohio Township Association:

The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) are conducting a pilot study to establish a comprehensive and transparent means of evaluating road/rail at-grade crossings as they relate to overall rail corridor operations and roadway operations. This assessment process will be developed for potential application on rail corridors statewide (with the intent of improving safety and mobility for both railroads and roadway users). This will be accomplished by identifying solutions to reduce vehicular delays from blocked crossings.

As part of this project, they will be conducting a number of consultations with various stakeholders to better understand how other state organizations look at and assess at-grade crossing issues and how they affect local and regional jurisdictions, safety response capabilities, and railroad operations.

ORDC, ODOT, and CPCS Transcom has invited OTA staff to participate in a Stakeholder Workshop to gather perspectives and insight. The OTA is seeking input and perspectives from township officials for this study. Please contact Marisa Myers, OTA Director of Governmental Affairs, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to share your township's perspective.
