(U.S.) - The U.S. House of Representatives voted last week to add a provision to the National Defense Authorization Act or FY2020 that would reclassify 911 dispatchers. 

This would change their current classification as Office and Administrative Support Occupations to Protective Service Occupations. 

The 911 Supporting Accurate Views of Emergency Services (SAVES) Act now will head to the Senate. If the Senate passes it, 911 dispatchers will be reclassified in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) catalog.
